The first place most people's thoughts run to is I have to loose weight. A healthy body is more than weight!

We hear constantly that America is an obese nation. But fixating on the scale is not the only or the best strategy to a healthy body.

If you decide you want to loose weight, please take time to assess and improve other areas of your life also. Sleep, stress levels, mindset, caloric balance and activity levels all work together, influencing our state of health.

Julia Malacoff shared a few strategies in a MyFitnessPal blog . . .

  • Befriend your body
    • Decrease negative self-talk
    • Invest in self care
  • Ask the right questions when you notice unhelpful thoughts
    • Evaluate them and change
  • Value the process
    • Focus on doing the right thing
  • Focus on behavior change
    • Changing habits permanently
  • Watch your language
    • example dieting and exercising vs. making better food choices and increasing movement
  • Relationship with setbacks
    • view setbacks as normal and expected
  • Embrace YET
    • It's a journey not a race.
  • Progress not perfection is the goal.

We must be mindful of emotional eating, following fad diets, and routines that eventually leave us worse off.

We are expertly made by our Creator, we are responsible to keep our bodies healthy! Do not let the scale or commercials define who you are.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (Amplified)  Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]?
